Mustang & Mazda plant cloudy
« on: February 19, 2011, 11:17:02 PM »
With the ongoing decline in the US$.. looks now like another blow might be on the horizon for Michigan's auto workers with the Flat Rock MI plant jointly operated by Ford and Mazda slowing down too much (much because of the unstable exchange rates for both Japan & the USA.. and the influx of more imports into the USA..  does that sound familiar locally here too...!)

The currently plant builds Mazda 6's and Mustangs..

Having seen first hand over the last 30 years the demise of Detroits principle industry.. including a couple of years back the closing of Fords MASSIVE ...WIXOM plant that built much of the big car series... the effects this has on the reliant community is atomic.  They were using it for storage only for about 18mths..now is tumble weed infested and junked..   A plant that build over 6million vehicles..

To give you an idea of the Wixom plants size.. its about double that of Fords Broadmeadows plant OR Holdens Elizabeth  plant in SA. . or locally about 1.5 times the size of the entire area of Bluesteel/BHP's plant at Port Kembla.

Heres good clip review etc..
