Number plate initials a give away.....hey Dave? You obviously remember the 57 made famous in the aussie cult movie "Running on empty". that 57 was a foor door sedan like yours cut and shut to be a two door for the movie. I was breathing down Ivan Hughes's neck while he was doing the mods on it back in around 1982. Correct me if I am wrong...... :burnout:

.. and many Aussie movies were all based or highly evolved around cars & hero's....
The FJ Holden Movie (1977). .. another .but at least it captured the sacred time of 70's street racing.. ... Sad what they did to the 64 Pontiac here too.. but thats how many Pontiacs were viewed back then...

Then the world wide hit... Mad Max 1..(1979)

a few years on in 1982 "Running on Empty".... an example if nothing else of how the Australian Film Industry has matured...  remember going to see that at an opening night in a Pitt St Sydney Theater.... cost $5 to get in.. ....  Did not know Peter Hughes played a supply part in that movie but good on him.... .he's been a behind the scenes member of our US car community forever.... interesting.

Running on Empty.. ...today would be banned probably for anti Social messages..

.. maybe in a future movie the villian could be played out for a non-believing greenie who challenges the White line width of the cities bicycle lanes in his hydro Smart Car.. while Clover Moore looks on with her media minders putting it on facebook & it going viral...... ..

Interesting tidbit... the 57 Chev used in Running on Empty... I remember when the movie was over - it was advertised for sale for $15,000 which was pretty good price back then and many years later, I met one of the people involved in making the film. Apparently they had a hard time selling that car... I guess no one imagined that it would become a cult classic film???
