Pontiac Firebirds the Lingenfelter Collection

ScottieDTV must have died and gone to musclecar heaven. He has been given an opportunity to see the Lingenfelter Collection. As you can image the collection is massive and contains almost every musclecar you can dream of. According to Scottie it’s a car guys dream world; “What a cool place…talk about living in a dream world…it’s like that real REM sleep where you have them real deep dreams, that’s where am I today.”

While on tour, Scottie stumbled across a row of Pontiac Firebirds & Trans Ams. This row had Firebirds going as far back as the first first generation such as the green first gen which began the row. Next to it is a 1994 25th Anniversary Trans Am, this 25th Anniversary is a bird from the era where cars began to become fast again. It’s 275 Horsepower was a huge improvement over 230 horsepower of the third generation.

While walking down the row, Scottie spotted a Hurst-Lingenfelter Trans Am. This magnificent machine was built in 1997, it was faster and handled better than the standard WS6. It produced 360 horsepower and was capable of turning a 12.9 second quarter mile. These birds can be identified by their black and gold paint job as well as their Hurst-Lingenfelter emblem near the rear windshield.

Another rare gem in the collection is a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am turbo pace car. This 89 Trans am was the pace car for 1989 Indy 500. Unlike most 3rd gens which had 305 V-8′s, this bird has a Turbocharged Buick 3.8l V6 that produces 250 horses.

Sitting next to the Turbo Trans am was an extremely rare car; a Pontiac Tojan. The Tojan was a custom car built by Knudsen Automotive for Pontiac between 1985 to 1991. These cars were built to compete with Ferrari’s and only 300 of them were ever made.

The best part about the Firebirds in the Lingenfelter collection, is that all these cars are actually driven. They may not be daily drivers but they do get taken out on the track and driven to events to show off their capabilities.
