Title: USA Plates
Post by: usmusclecars on September 11, 2012, 11:03:20 AM
If your from Victoria you can now purchase plates for your USA Muscle Car, probably won't be long before NSW follow, I think there's plenty of money to be made here!

From 8:30am this Wednesday, September 5 you can purchase a unique one-size-only custom USA style plate, featuring a distinct American design (please note this is not an American flag).

Designed on the basis of standard American sized plates, these plates are a great way for you to express a bit of your American side.

Just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I know that WA pay $365 which is cheaper than Vic so I guess NSW will be the dearest if we get them, which I'm sure we will....

It's always been a rip for plates but ever since it was privatised there getting dearer and dearer, but one good thing I guess is the variety is growing!

I have owned a set of custom Victoria plates for the last ten years. I have sold the car minus the plates several years ago and Vicroads let me keep the plates on my office wall.....because I OWN them. No annual fee, if I want to display them on another car one day it cost me just $80. As the plate slogan says.....Victoria...The Place To Be.

About 3 years ago I sent off a suggestion to the NSW RTA that since USA sized plates were an optionin QLD, they should look at it for NSw as there were numerous US sourced vehicles that had issues displaying Aussie plates - I use black/white two letter-three number plates that fit fine, I luckily bought them before they became a "rental" proposition.
They emailed me back saying they had referred the plate size to the Police for checking that they could be read by photo ID equipment....still no plates three years later...but they can issue standard sizes in every ugly colour under the sun, incuding footy club colours.....thanks for consideration, guys....
