Title: Dropping a 60 Caddy rear
Post by: GAS455 on January 06, 2011, 11:22:21 AM
My mate Al and I dropped the rear of the '60 Caddy this morning.
Chopped the springs 1/2 a coil.

Dropped it down nicely.  Not too much...just a little.
I will see how it goes down to Canberra and see if I want to go anymore...But I think it will be fine.

Can't afford airbags at the moment...so this was the next best thing.  It cost nothing...but a little time.

I think it came out well. Much better stance.
Took an hour to do.

LOL...You are hanging for the GTO aren't you!!

When I get back from Summernats I will be doing a little more work on the GTO. Haven't touched it for a long long time.  I think I decided what I am going to do with it now...So I will be able to do bits on it again as the $$$ come in.
The 57 is still main priority though.

Hi Mick,  Yep will be heading down there early tomorrow morning. I'm not entered, so won't be taking the Caddy inside...only for the trip there and back.
But I will be around somewhere in the Nats check out all the goodies.

I already had enough trouble getting the rear wheels off before.  I think I will just have to undo the bottom of a shock out when I want to change a wheel.
Nothing was mean't to be easy!

If I could have afforded it....I would have loved your 67 in my garage.

I need a bigger garage.
It would have been quicker than doing mine up.

I knew Angelo bought  the engine.
Didn't realise that the 67 had gone to Cowra though.

it is a great car. be good to see it back on the road.
Did the hood with hole in it go with the car???

The Caddy travelled nicely down to the Nats and back.
No scrapping out on normal roads...just a little getting in a few driveways...which is normal anyway.

So the ride height is perfect for what I want.

Summernats were great.  We left before the lunatics got too crazy. Will do it again next year.

At this stage the won't be a hole in the bonnet of the GTO...But anything can change....:shades:
