For those who know (or actaully care) i am restoring a 67 Galaxie Fastback.
And have decided to replace the 390 with a more pleasant 428, i just needed a bit more toque:rol:
Useless info for some, but the Galaxie 428 wasn't called a 428 it was called a 7 Litre.
I'm getting happier about this project and hope to have her back in a few weeks.
Thanks to the home insulation grant, getting parts out of containers has slowed up and that put us about a month behind.
If i don't get this thing back together soon i will change my mind again and put an even bigger motor in it.
David.

Slow down Dave .....whats the hurry, a 9 litre is just a few months away!
-
Dave, that's great. Upgrading to a Pontiac 428 will be fantastic.
Ok, enough of being a smart ar**, I have a question. The americans have spelled this word like this 'litre' and like this 'liter'.
What's the correct spelling for the 7 litre/liter Ford engine??
-
so it should go quicker than 68PONY hay???
-
Chris they spell it litre, like us.
The 428 was suppose to be more street friendly than the 427 which started to get a bit out there for stock street cars.
Joe, i dont think i would catch the pony, i have a few extra hundred pounds to get moving(and stopping).

Its about time you Pony people got the balls to put a decent engine in your ford! But I would go for a 427 sideoiler or go for a 514cuber!

Yeh but i don't have the budget for a side oiler:mad:
I think you can take the 428 to 540CI.

Sounds like it is going to be one mother Galaxie
428 is FE motor...right? It should not be too hard to fit a 429SCJ with tunnel port heads to make it a killer ride though... :zip:
