FYI - IMCC (Illawarra Modified Car Community)
« on: May 23, 2017, 08:25:45 PM »
Attention: IMCC Followers - Important Announcement

After an in-depth meeting with Plaza Management last week and substantial discussion with several local enthusiasts and monthly meet regulars we have decided to discontinue the IMCC Monthly Meets.

The meet we held for May marked 12 months since bringing these meets over to Warrawong Plaza venue and although things have gone quite smoothly throughout the year, over the past few months we have seen an increase in irresponsible driver behaviour when entering and exiting the venue and both the Plaza's and our own requests to tone things down seem to have unfortunately fallen on deaf ears.

On the night of the last meet, 13.05.17 the Plaza enlisted the help of an external company to review the meet so as to deliver an un-bias look at the operation . The results, whilst including many positives, also listed around a dozen negative points all up from burn outs to intoxication, plus a group of idiots making a mess of the level 2 toilets.

Add to this, the fact that we now have people being sent out from other groups to purposely disrupt and cause issues for our meets, it begins to open up to a very volatile situation which is something we do not want to be involved with. We know who it is and so do the dozen or so others that came and told us it was going to happen both prior and on the night of the meet but as usual, we'll leave the childish behavior to them and simply move forward.

This decision has not been an easy one to make for us but in an effort to retain a positive relationship with the Plaza, local residents and the local area command, we feel it's one that had to be made now, by us.

IMCC as a group, a local information hub or however you want to look at it, is not going anywhere and we will continue to showcase our great local scene and work towards better community relations for car enthusiasts and modified cars in general. We will also continue to our local cruises and charity work which has raised over $7000 for Beyond Blue, locals in need and the Wollongong Hospital Children's Ward. This may also include returning to Warrawong Plaza for some 1-off events, with management more than happy to continue working with us, as confirmed in the below excerpt from their email response.

"We’ve had a fantastic time accommodating your meet this last 12 months plus, it’s brought the community together and created a great atmosphere for families and enthusiasts alike to come and experience a night out amongst some awesome rides! I’m sure we can come together again in future."

From myself and all those who have been there to help out with behind the scenes I would like to send out a HUGE Thank You for everyone's support for these meets and positive feedback, especially over the past 12 months. It was a big step for us to move the meets to the plaza, knowing it would ruffle some people's feathers but those who were able to see the bigger picture stuck with it and helped the group continue to highlight our local car scene in a positive light to the greater community which has been one of our main goals from the very beginning.
