Complete with grainy film and a ragtime soundtrack, this Official 1920′s Dodge Brothers Promo film gives us a glimpse at what driving was like during the roaring decade. The video shows a Dodge Bros Delivery Sedan trudging through dense, muddy fields in an attempt to reach an oil well. Along the way Charlie Chaplin style hilarity ensues.
We are treated to scenes of the sedan literally hopping a long through the mud, we see it frighten horses, get stuck in the mud and even tip over. After it tips over another silent comedy moment happens as the two drivers and a bystander attempt to flip it back over. We then see it driving down a canyon and practically driving sideways through a trench of mud before reaching the oil well safe and sound.
What impressed us most was not the silent comedy (though it was good for a laugh) but how rugged and strong this car was. It was able to handle everything thrown at it. We saw it drive through mud that lifted Dakotas with mud tires would struggle through.
We are also blown away that this car went through this ordeal without a scratch. Even after it flipped over, there was not a dent visable on the sedan. This video demonstrated the toughness of these cars. It shows how much pride the Dodge Brothers took in the fine craftsmanship of these vehicles. It also reminds us that these tough vehicles built this nation. Can you imagine having to trudge through mud like this today?
