Sneak Peek Of Need For Speed, The Movie
« on: June 21, 2013, 11:04:38 AM »
Big action franchises typically start with a feature movie and other products like video games are usually a spin-off result of the movies’ success. That’s not the case with Need For Speed by EA Sports. Even though there has already been a long stream of often sub-par movies based on action or role play video games, Need For Speed seems to be the first automotive racing game that has made its way to the big screen.

As with any new car movie the million dollar question is “What cars are they using?” In this behind-the-scenes trailer we get an early look at the impressive mix of cars featured, and keen-eyed car buffs will quickly note that they certainly didn’t cheap out on the car selection. Much of the action seems to be dominated by supercars from Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Bugatti. However, we were very pleased to see that a slick silver Mustang and even a primered 1966 Le Mans seem to be prominently featured on camera.

As far as the story line goes, we’ve found that it centers around a mechanic/street racer who is framed and imprisoned, and the movie follows his quest for revenge. However, all we can really gather from the spot is that there is an abundance of over the top, video game-esque crash and chase scenes, even though Scott Waugh, Director of the movie says, “Need for Speed is definitely accurate and authentic to real car racing culture.” While we certainly wouldn’t go that far, Need For Speed the movie does look like it might be a solid hour and a half of cinematic entertainment. Expect it to hit theaters sometime in the spring of 2014.
Now for the next big question: Do you think you’ll go see it?
