I ticked over 20,000 miles in the ol' barge today in the past 12 months (actually 364 days).  I bought a set of tyres on the 30th of November last year and the tyre shop noted the milage on the invoice - 51,687.  I was out earlier today and ticked over 71,687 just before I pulled into my driveway.

Just to keep the car on it's toes, I'm driving it to Albury tomorrow.

The trip to Albury was just a warmup.  I'm driving the barge to Adelaide tomorrow and coming home via the Great Ocean Road next week.  The odometer is currently sitting on 73540 miles - I wonder what it'll be when I get back...

**Attention**  Ford and Chrysler owners, don't try this at home...

The odometer reading when I got back was... 75639.  So, I managed to travel 2,099 miles in 1 week.
We had a great trip and the car performed flawlessly - except for... the airconditioning.  Ironically, the a/c is the newest part of my car.  I had it completely rebuilt about a year ago and the clutch on the compressor threw in the towel at Mittagong, so the first leg of our trip to Hay was pretty warm.  The temperature was over 40 degrees for many hours.  I had the best swim of my life when I arrived at the motel in Hay.
Luckily, the rest of the trip was generally sunny and mid to high 20's, so it was ideal for top down touring.  I now have an even better tan.  Further to that, the ol' barge averaged 16 mpg and ran beautifully.
If you haven't done the drive along the Great Ocean Road, add it to your bucket list and make sure you do it.
One other thing, if you're ever in Wodonga and want a trip back to 1970's decor and a great Chinese meal at the same time, go to the Dragon Court restaurant, 81 High St, Wodonga - yummy.
