Let’s face it, some muscle cars have been thought of as favorites of “red necks” for generations. Just look at the classic TV show Dukes of Hazzard if you need proof. But on a new SPEED TV show set to air this coming February, this notion is taken to an extreme. Helped by the same guys behind the American Street Car Series and all the Run events, RU Faster Than A Redneck pins American muscle and their so-called redneck drivers against imports and their owners to settle the age-old question of which type of car is better. Check out a sneak peak in the trailer above.
While we all know that the demographics of muscle car owners and enthusiasts supersede self-proclaimed red necks, the new show RU Faster Than A Redneck challenges owners of foreign vehicles to prove once and for all that they are in fact, faster than a muscle car-wielding enthusiast. Unfortunately, import owners that go up against their muscle-owning rivals may not quite expect the kind of skill and performance they’re bound to see on the track.
Throughout the series, host Jon Reep and The Mullet Mafia aim to prove that American muscle will always beat import. To do so, participants race through three heats of winding asphalt action. The one who comes out on top walks away with not only bragging rights, but also $10,000.
Of course, all our favorite Chevys are involved in the mix, from C10 trucks to classic first and second-generation Camaros, and even some modern muscle. But do these American favorites have what it takes to prove that import owners aren’t faster than rednecks? You’ll have to wait until February to find out.
