Vale for Mr Paul Samuels - 1st President of HSRCA
« on: June 28, 2012, 06:34:48 PM »
Good Afternoon All,     It is with great sadness we recognize the passing of Mr Paul Samuels.
To anyone who has ever participated in Historic Racing in NSW Mr Samuels needs no introduction.
To those of us who have not, but enjoyed being part of an event at Wakefield Park, he also needs no introduction.  His vision in being a part of creating and building this circuit and the joy to the masses that it has brought, I personally, and probably on behalf of all of us who have enjoyed it, would like to say Thank You.

At the NSW State Executive meeting last night, the members noted the considerable contribution and dedication of Mr Samuels to Australian Motor Sport.
I would like to pass on the information so kindly distributed by Club Lotus Aust regarding the details surrounding this sad event.     Kind Regards,  Doreen Butchers

        Subject: Vale Paul Samuels

Paul Samuels passed away on Friday, 22 June at the age of 79.

While very involved in motorsport for much of his life, Club Lotus and HSRCA members should best remember him as one of the key founders of HSRCA and an avid Lotus fan, racing many Lotus over the years, especially his Lotus 11, Lotus 15 and 18 and Coopers.

Paul was the first President of HSRCA. He will also be thanked by all who love motor sports, as the co-developer of Wakefield Park that we have enjoyed now for so many years.

Paul’s funeral will be held at 11.00 am at Christ Church Lavender Bay (on the corner of Walker and Lavender Streets), on Friday 29th June. A memorial gathering will be held in the Banksia Room at around 1.00 p.m. at Macquarie Park (on the corner of Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde) following the burial.

KInd regards, Elliott Nicholls Secretary, Club Lotus Aust.
