I don't have a home garage worthy of talking about.. and the floor has always been a PITA keep decent looking.. While at SEMA I had another look at Racedeck and ended up ordering some on the spot, anyway it came in during the week... and yesterday & today ended up cleaning out the garage and laying it.
Racedeck is a hard plastic clip lock flooring.. Comes in a variety of colors.. patterns.. ie snow drainable.. checkerplate etc.. www.racedeck.com
Its solid enough to jack up cars on or belt with a hammer.. although you would not.. Not good in a welding shops etc.. ..
This is how it went down in my garage anyway.. easier then painting again and again and again... This lot cost around US$1100 plus freight and tax.

Any surface prep or is it fairly forgiving?

I don't think it glues down...you just lay it out and clip the edges together.....no prep other than a broom required.

It's not a garage floor without oil stains.

Ive seen that at shows here in the states. its very cool. I like it, and was thinking of doing the same one day. if and when I quit painting car in there.

That looks very similar to the tiles used for dedicated computer rooms. Interlocking "teeth" on all sides of the tile. Thickness about 1/2 inch. Eddie

Gene.. the prep was a real good clean up .. we used sugar soap and scrubed & hosed it the day before.... also to help get rid of oil and mechanical fume smell a bit .. the wife used to have a Ford.. and you know what their like...!!.. but nothing is sealed onto it.. . but its pretty solid.. grips the laid on surface. Its also not as slippery as paint.
The company RaceDeck has some type of promo on at Sema with it.. they certainly had taken a few orders when mine was done... cost around US$2.80 per peice 12inX12in. plus edge bits etc..
All up with airfreight (in with our weekly loadings so its a lot less then what it would otherwise be) the lot cost$2150 give or take $50 landed, tax'd done.

I agree ,great for a display garage but not so great for a workshop :(

I wouldnt mind some of those tiles just to spruse up the garage a bit!
