Seeing the hood bulge upward at high speed reminded me of a story from the Cannonball Runs held in the US back in the '70's.
A motoring writer named Brock Yates (who also co-wrote Smokey and the Bandit II and Cannonball Run) was entered on behalf of Car and Driver Magazine.
He drove a Dodge Challenger in both the '72 and '75 races. I remeber reading that they had to put hood pins at all 4 corners of both the bonnet and boot to hold them down, as they would lift from the car at speeds over 140mph.
