Putting this one up a little earlier for you to put into your Diaries...........

We did this cruise last year & was very popular.  Meeting at the Caltex servo Heathcote at 8 00am leaving at 8 15am.  Having breeky at Panarama hotel on the way through to Albion Park Airport. The display of old planes are fantastic.  Bring sunscreen & a hat.

Wings Over Illawarra 2011

This coming WOI 11 has several new features (as well retaining the visual images from WOI 10) as follows:-

* WOI is now an Air Show, which means the full flying program can be advertised in advance,

* Attendance tickets for both Ordinary and Gold Pass admissions can be pre-booked AS FROM NOW using this website,

* An enhanced half hourly train service each way means that the best way to attend WOI 11 is by train

* We have now added the final details of two new features:-1) the Gold Pass option, which is a great gift for the committed enthusiast and an opportunity for regional business people to learn more about working to supply Defence purchasing requirements as well having a great day at Wings; and 2) the opportunity to sponsor one or more of the civilian aircraft flights during the Air Show program

Further information is available at the event website, Click The Flyer

I am an aviation enthusiast and I do fly some of these machines but I am very suprised by the lack of interest in this event.
You do not hear a Rolls Royce V12 Merlin engine at full power every day and this is your chance to witness it in action.
Are you aware that these engines produce over 2000hp( yes...two thousand ) at 3000 rpm? Imagine what they could produce at 6000 rpm.... and that was built in the '40's. Not to mention the roar of FOUR 18 cylinder radials on one airframe producing over TEN THOUSAND Hp combined.
If you love V8's and like the sound of them than open your eyes, get out of your Mustang and witness some serious power in the air. It has always been a top event with plenty of action, entertainment for the whole family, excellent catering and top facilities.
I would rather pay the $20 for this than paying the same for  Tug in the park

I will be there!

Weather permitting, we'll be there. Chris is right, a Merlin at full bore is ear shattering. Eddie

Having attended this day for the last 3 years I can vouch that it is a fantastic day out. It gets bigger and better each year with not only aircraft but many car and vintage bike club displays. The model jet flying displays are awsome as are the real planes. A well organised day which I guarantee any motor enthusiast would enjoy.

That if I can get my hands on one....they just about crashed every one of them out of Bankstown lately.
15 minutes in an aeroplane Bankstown-Albion Park.  :shades:
