I picked up the new engine yesterday.  

It was a painless operation from start to finish.  

Whilst I can't see myself importing anything this large again any time soon, if or when I do, you'll definately have my business.

P.S. The engine's still in the big plywood crate, in the back of my trailer, in the garage, so no photos yet - but it is a nice crate.

It came with chrome rocker covers, the rest is painted Pontiac engine blue.  Any bling will make the rest of the car look daggy, so I'll be keeping it to a minimum.

I think Mickey Thompson would disagree when he set the world land speed record with a Pontiac powered car - for those of us old enough to remember.

BTW, I don't recall seeing any Pontiacs in your workshop?  Does that mean they're just better than everything else??:shades:

I have to give credit to the Mustang crowd....they do drive their cars more often, that's why i work on them all the time.

As for Pontiacs.... most of them ended up in museums or Simsmetal. The ones left on the road would not make the distance to my workshop.

The Mustang crowd drive their cars more often than who? The Model T Ford Club, the Goggomobile Club.??

I know we have some guys here with Mustangs, and they put some milage on them, but I wouldn't consider Mustang owners in general as the  'lets get out and drive around' sort of enthusiast.  

Gee, I must have been lucky with my '64 Bonneville, seeing as I put 200,000 miles on it myself in 10 years.  I don't know how many miles it had on it before I got it.

Is 200,000 miles a lot compared to the Mustang guys?? I wonder.

As far as ending up in museums, I think your pine lime splice mopar would qualify as a museum piece, considering the milage it doesn't do.:shades:

Your Hermi would want to be bigger, considering the price.

Also, considering the traditional Pontiac V8 started life as a 287, they must have used some Dr. Who technology to get 455 cubic inches out of the same block.
