C3 Corvette rear leaf spring
(1/1)
97Vette:
Woud appreciate if any body could steer me in the right direction on this issue;
I have an 80vette with the original rear spring which is flat/level/straight with the ends actualy curling up slightly. In my view it has expired.
I am told I can get the spring reset by a spring specialist. I have also been told this can have its downside by affecting ride height, uneven etc.
I am not sure if I should go this way or buy a new fibreglass spring from US which I am told does not fatigue and would sit even.
Thanks
Glen

Hi Glen
Les(bumblebee) and myself have used these guys,they reset our springs without raising ride height. click on link , they do oldschool stuff.

I dont think they changed to much from 69-80? But you can lower the car once you get the spring re-springed. Look under the car your spring sits on 2 long bolts either end of the spring, once the spring is taut again the nut holding the spring can be adjusted up or down which in turn will raise or lower your suspension!
The good thing about fiberglass suspension is that its adjustable from hard to soft by sliding 2 blocks apart across the spring.

I run a VB&P Fibreglass spring in my 77, one of the best things i've done to the vette.
This is the kit I fitted http://www.vbandp.com/ourcatalog/source/page_09.htm
