The word HEMI is copywright. Same as GM & FoMoCo have name copywrights on products. Hemispherical is the mech. design description.Manufactures can have a Hemi [ hemispherical] by design, they just cant use the name!! HEMI is trademarked by FIAT Corp. If any other manufacturer use it on a product without FIAT Corp permission they will be most probably be sued. "Permission" is the key here, they hold the trademark so permission must be given from the owners-FIAT Corp. Look at any FIAT Corp advertising and the words, Jeep,Challenger,Dodge,HEMI etc etc are trademarked. Dont confuse trademarked with design. The 429 may be of a somewhat hemispherical design, but it is not technically known as a HEMI and will never be known as one.Now if FoMoCo trademarked the flathead as a HEMI back in the day, it may well be different! lol WWW Example...Please read the terms of use! Fitted to a limited run 'production' vehicle. Although limited and built 'off the line', it was a limited 'factory' build just the same.Just like a GM dealer COPO or Shelby or Royal Bobcat build from the past later Dave
