4 speed auto update

(1/3) > >>

Well a few of you know i decided to fit a 4 speed electronic transmission ,well its going very smoothly my transmission guroo started on monday and by yesterday afternoon all the electrics have been done including the TPS ( throttle positioning sensor ) which is connected to the accelerater linkage on carby , the computer that controlls the tranny is in and connected ,we had some luck my tailshaft doesnt need to be shorten but the yolk for the tranny needs bigger unies ,not a bad thing but he found the exact fit , i just spoke to him a few minutes ago and he has dummy fit everything in without the converter and  yeeha it fits , but we got a phone call fromm tce converters in melbourne yesterday saying they can not make a 3500rpm stall with lock up for this trany, so i was on the phone last night talking to precision industries in the US and no worries mate 3500rpm stall with lock up no probs , so thats sorted it takes 2 days to make so hopefully it should arrive by late next week ;8 that is the only thing holding us up ,
Why i here you say am i doing this when there is nothing wrong with my transmission ,well

1. ratios current box -                 new box (4r70w)
1st 2.40                                   1st 2.84
2nd1.46                                   2nd 1.55
3rd 1.1                                      3rd 1.1
 4th none                                              4th .70
so the car will take off with more gusto 2nd gear will be slightly better but the icing on the cake is with the computer controlled lock up converter in 4th ,how does 1900rpm at 65 mph sound instead of 3000rpm now
benefits 25% less fuel on freeway trips (90%) of my driving
less engine wear
i will have full controll of shift points and line pressures. computer has a dual map so i can have a race tune with hard shifts and a street tune for smooth shifts all from a flick of a switch.
maybe a couple of tenths faster on the 1/4 mile
less pollution
no need for asprin after a freeway trip
and now ill be able to hear sharon talk on the freeway (hmmm dont know if thats a benefit ;x ) maybe i will need the asprin ;x
the cons for this conversion is PRICE ;17
the man doing this conversion my auto guroo , top bloke , nothing is to hard for this guy ,is joe from A class automatics in penrith ph 4732-6177
My appoligies if i have bored anyone but i thought the tech heads might have been interested
cheers chris

they could only go to 2500rpm with the lock up converter if i wanted 3500 they could do it but with out the lock up which defeats the purpose as having the lock up in forth will give me around 500rpm less on freeway, the yanks must know something TCE don't cause they (precision industries) can make a lock up converter for my tranny up to 5800rpm ;4
ahh god bless america
